Parkdale Quarry Bridges

Project Description:
Lobato Construction was the prime contractor for two different Martin Marietta projects at their Parkdale Quarry Facility located along US-50 west of Canon City, CO.

Tallahassee Creek Bridge Rehab:
This project was to rehabilitate the bridge over Tallahassee Creek that provides access between the mining area and the processing facility within the quarry facility. The project included repairs to the existing steel superstructure, installation of shear studs, and construction of a new concrete deck and bridge rail.

County Road 157 Arkansas River Bridge:
This project replaced the bridge on County Road 157 providing access to the Parkdale Quarry from US-50 over the Arkansas River. The project included demolition of the existing truss bridge, installation of micropile foundations, construction of a new 111’ long, 29’ wide single span precast/prestressed concrete girder bridge, reconstruction of roadway approaches, and other miscellaneous work.

Start Date: December 2017
Completion: April 2018

It gives me great pleasure to be sending this email out. As of today, the Tallahassee Bridge Rehabilitation project is complete. Due to all the great efforts of all of you we can finally take a breath when thinking about being able to access the granite side regardless of flooding or any other unforeseen weather conditions. I am most proud to also say we have completed this project with 0 accidents, incidents, not even a first aid. This all comes from a great team effort in which you have all played a valuable role in, for that I thank each and every one of you. I am also pleased to say we finished this project under budget 🙂 Please take a moment to reflect and pat yourself on the back as the success of this project is a direct result of everyone’s hard and professional work and most importantly your dedication to our # 1 goal SAFETY.
